Industrial dust collectors

Pulse-jet dust collectors for dust extraction and containment. ValensAir has developed its own industrial dust collector, installed and in service in the pharmaceutical industry.

Industrial bag-filter dust collector with access ladder

Dust stays in. Clean air goes out.

A dust collector separates particles from process air before it is discharged or returned. Dust-laden air passes through filter bags or cartridges; particles build up on the outer surface and clean air passes through. Short pulses of compressed air periodically knock the dust cake into the hopper so the filters keep working.

Pulse-jet dust collector, operating principle Dust-laden air enters the lower chamber and passes through filter bags from outside to inside. Dust builds up on the bag surface while clean air rises into the plenum and is drawn out by the fan. Periodic pulses of compressed air clean one bag at a time, and released dust falls into the hopper and out through a rotary valve. Operating principle

  1. Dust-laden air enters

Extraction ductwork brings contaminated air into the dirty-air chamber. Heavier particles drop out directly into the hopper.

  2. Filters capture particles

Air passes from the outside of each filter bag to the inside. Dust is held on the filter surface and builds into a cake.

  3. Clean air leaves

Filtered air rises through the bags into the clean-air plenum and is drawn out by the system fan.

  4. Pulse-jet cleaning

As resistance rises, a diaphragm valve fires a short pulse of compressed air down one row of bags, flexing them and releasing the dust cake.

  5. Dust is discharged

Released dust falls into the hopper and leaves through a rotary airlock valve into a bin or conveyor.

Know the dust

Particle size, loading, moisture, temperature and combustibility drive media choice, air-to-cloth ratio and safety provisions.

Capture at source

Hood and duct design decide how much dust actually reaches the collector. We engineer the extraction points, not just the box.

Stable resistance

Pulse cleaning keeps filter pressure drop within a working band, so the fan keeps delivering the design airflow.
