Air handling units
Application-specific AHUs for pharmaceutical, industrial and commercial facilities, configured around airflow, filtration, cooling, humidity and room pressure requirements.
Air that is filtered, conditioned and delivered on specification.
An air handling unit takes in outdoor and return air, filters it, cools or heats it, controls its moisture and delivers it to the space at the required volume and pressure. In controlled environments the AHU is the heart of how temperature, humidity, cleanliness and room pressure are held.
Follow the air
Air changes state at every section. Select a section to see what it does to the air.
- Outdoor air
- Return air
- Dust captured by filters
- Cooled and dehumidified
- Reheated supply
Operating principle
Mix
Outdoor air and return air are mixed through dampers in the proportion the space needs.
Filter
Pre-filters and fine filters remove particles in stages to protect the coils and the space.
Cool and dehumidify
The cooling coil lowers air temperature below its dew point, so moisture condenses and drains away.
Reheat
Where humidity control requires it, a reheat coil brings the air back up to the supply temperature.
Supply under pressure
The supply fan delivers air to the space. Terminal HEPA filters and room pressure control are added where the application calls for them.
Specifications
Reference data and the parameters we size for each project.
| Parameter | Project-specific units |
|---|---|
| Casing construction | Double-skin panels, specification per project |
| Filtration stages | Staged to the application |
| Coils | Chilled water, DX or hot water, per project |
| Fan type | Selected for duty and efficiency |
| Controls interface | To suit the building management system |
| Status | Supplied to project requirements |
Airflow and pressure
Air change rates, room pressure relationships and system resistance set the fan duty.
Psychrometrics
Coil selection follows the full design condition — sensible and latent load — not just a tonnage figure.
Hygienic design
Smooth internals, sloped drain pans and full access are how an AHU stays clean in service.
Applications
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging areas
- Controlled environments with pressure cascades
- Industrial production halls and process areas
- Commercial buildings and facilities
Configuration options
- Fresh-air, recirculation or mixed-air configurations
- Staged filtration, with terminal HEPA where specified
- Cooling, heating, reheat and humidity-control sections
- Hygienic internal finishes and cleanable drain pans
- Access doors, inspection windows and lighting for servicing
- Energy recovery sections where the duty justifies them
